Phyllorhiza punctata
Australian Spotted Jellyfish, Phyllorhiza punctata, upside down, Sunset Beach, NC, 10/30/07. Because each flip flop is 10 inches long, this specimen is approx. 29 inches in diameter, the largest recorded at that time. It is an invasive, nonindigenous species consuming over 12,000 gallons of water with the phytoplankton and larvae of our species and that our species need to survive.
