Sunset Beach, NC

I looked forward to today's walk to offset being alone on Thanksgiving, and was richly rewarded 10 minutes after starting by finding this large octopus in the creek opposite the ocean. Because the last one I found also was there, I am beginning to think that they are like turtles, at the edge of the creek closest to the ocean but with the point of the island separating them from the ocean they need. Normally I deliver them to an aquarium but could not today because it was closed.

Unfortunately, I photographed the octopus on fluffy sand. Because it was very active, it stayed covered in sand. He amused beachgoers. Then I returned him to his home, the sea.
